The Taj Mahal is a magnificent white marble mausoleum that stands as a testament of the love and devotion of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz Mahal. She died in 1631 while giving birth to their 14th child, and Shah Jahan was grief-stricken by her loss. He ordered the construction of the Taj Mahal in her memory, and it took more than 20 years and thousands of workers to complete. The Taj Mahal is a masterpiece of Mughal architecture, blending Indian, Persian and Islamic influences, and it is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the wonders of the world.
